Solid, muted colors and subtle patterns go a long way in portrait photography, especially when capturing large groups. Instead of "twinning," try to mix and match colors/textures among your party. 

NOTE: Bright/Neon colors tend to reflect up onto your neck and face, so try to keep colors around your torso muted or neutral.
